NOTE: If instrument comes with a wood box, DO NOT SEND WOODEN BOX.
1. Disassemble equipment into individual assemblies if possible. Only remove features that stick out or that are sensitive to damage.
2. Wipe exterior of scope and other equipment/components if extremely dusty.
3. Put microscope and separate components into plastic bags and seal. Wrap tightly with tape so that the eyepieces do not fall out of the scope.
4. Wrap bagged and sealed microscope in layers of bubble-wrap so that no hard surfaces can be felt. Do this for each piece of equipment that is to be shipped.
a. Put bubble-wrapped pieces into a box that has at least three (3) times the volume that the pieces will occupy. This is to ensure an adequate cushion space from drops and punctures that may occur during shipping. VIP NOTE: Packaging is NOT a substitution for adequate shipping insurance at real replacement cost. *** For Dynascopes, stages and specialty microscopes see # 9 ***
5. Fill box approximately ¼ full of plastic bubble packaging medium. Place bubble-wrapped components into box.
6. Fill remaining space in box with plastic bubble packaging medium and stuff under pressure around the components.
7. Seal box tightly with acetate tape, reinforced paper tape or equivalent. Seal the bottom, edges and ends with tape.
8. Be sure to label the box as fragile (on 5 sides) and indicate “THIS END UP” or “TOP” on the top.
9. Use insurance via shipper to approximately the value of the system. Call ACC if you are uncertain of anything written above.

10. The following Packing Instruction are for Dynascope and other High end equipment.
a. For any Dynascope equipment or high power Flatfield specialty microscopes, the “foam-in-place” method of bagging, packing and boxing MUST be used (otherwise the insurance that you pay for may be not be valid). Ask your shipper about their “foam-in-place” capabilities if your company does not presently use this system.
b. All 4 and 5 series Dynascopes and Nikon Toolscope stages have a lockdown systems to protect the sensitive optics from damage during transportation. Before shipping or packing the equipment per our above instructions, please insure that these securing brackets and screws has been properly set. If you are unsure how this is done, contact ACC for instructions regarding these important features on stage based and projected image VEI optics.
c. The Vision Engineering 8” x 6” stage has a lockdown feature located at the front left side of the stage. The proper size screw must be installed into the stage before shipping the stage to ACC for service.
d. The Nikon 9” x 3” and other large format stages must be handled with extreme care or irrevocable damage can occur to the unit during handling and shipping. The stage should be locked using only approved Nikon lockdown hardware. Please contact ACC for information regarding this procedure and cost of the hardware. We will be happy to provide this hardware if you do not have the OEM devices.
