Microscope Dos & Don’ts

Cleaning Tips…

  1. Keep the top eyepiece lens and bottom lens protectors clean with an alcohol/water/soap solution and a cotton tipped applicator. NEVER USE paper towels, lens tissues or Kleenex.
  2. Do not put masking tape or rubber bands on or around the eyepieces.
  3. Do not put tape, stickers, labels on microscopes except for quality and company identification purposes only. Keep the outside microscope case wiped clean, this will help keep dirt and chemical contamination off the optics.
  4. Put a cover over the microscope when not in use. ACC recommends Freezer quality zip lock baggies for Stereo Zoom Microscopes.

NEVER use the following chemicals to clean microscopes or eyepieces:

  • Acetone
  • Xylene
  • Methylene Chloride
  • Trichlorethylene
  • Ether
  • MEK (Methyethyl Ketone)

Absolute Clarity & Calibration sells a “Cleaning Kit” which consists of (20) double end Q-tips, (10) cotton cloths and a bottle of “cleaning” solution — the cost is $ 35.00 + shipping
